I just wish everything would get better, and the company would see all the hard work the employees gave them, and all the years we spent with them. I know everybody's going through this pandemic. It's just like, oh my god what are we gonna do? They say they want to open the world back up, but this might go on until 2021. I don’t have any hope because there’s nothing good or positive on the news. I’m friends with a housekeeper she’s out of work, same as me, and she’s stressed because she feels like there will be even more demands on her job when she gets back. All those people touching different machines, transferring money? I mean, I wouldn’t go if I didn’t have to. We won’t be as busy because won’t be rushing back. When I finally do get back to the casino, I expect my job will feel very different. So while I'm confident that I will have a job because of my seniority and union, I'm worried about other workers. But we’re going back and forth on insurance and pay and they’re not budging. The company has been very transparent, sending messages and emails, and keeping us informed. They haven’t explained the difference, but it’s probably the number of people. When Katrina hit, we got paid up to six months this time, the company only paid us for two weeks.
They just closed down until after the storm. I was working at the same casino during Hurricane Katrina and they didn’t have layoffs.
